Title:
"View in a French Backstreet
1840"
Artist: Elizabeth Jenyns (1802
- c.1860).
Size: 3" x 4.5"
Price: £225
Elizabeth Jenyns was
the sister of the Reverend Jenyns who was due to sail on The Beagle,
but having fallen ill, he was replaced by Charles Darwin. Born in
1802 she travelled extensively in Europe, painting exquisite scenes
of places she visited. These three examples of her work came from
a sale held at Sothebys London in 1996. They are all signed with
her monogram as well as being inscribed. Having come from an album
the colours are as fresh as the day they were painted with no foxing.

21.5" x 16.5"
Price:
£175
A
beautiful Regency drawing by an unknown but competent hand. Signed
